On Friday 6 February, researcher Mario Bravo Cuadro participated at Dr Maria celia fernández aller‘s ‘Ethical and Social Aspects’ class at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (the project coordinator) to introduce the SkincAIr project to the students. He linked the project to topics covered in the course, such as professional responsibility and privacy.

The presentation was part of an initiative called ‘Research Based Learning Experience’ and explained how the SkincAIr consortium ensures compliance with ethical and legal considerations when developing the SkincAIr app. The specific aim in this case is to ensure that people participating in the fieldwork in Africa are aware of their rights and understand the concept of informed consent.

Afterwards, students had the opportunity to ask Mario Bravo questions, which raised awareness not only of SkincAIr’s main mission, but also of the work behind the scenes that goes into achieving it.
